Land Rover USA offering Diesel option for the new Defender.
This pleases me.

Sweet. Funny for “diesel being dead” in the US... to see Rover, GM, and Mazda doubling down.

Presumably those specs are imperial mpgs? So about 30mpg US? Not bad. Almost worth it for its glacial slowness.

Diesels are only dead in cars. Trucks and SUV’s are still good

Given that’s not a US web page (WLTP figures, l/100km and so on) those aren’t going to be miles per US gallon.
If you think those figures
glacially slow, you should try a previous model Defender with the 2.2 Ford engine

Eh, if someone wants a fast SUV they can go buy a Porsche. I want 348 lbft of torque at 1200 rpm. Awwww yisss.

Get it while you can when it’s available. The take rate for this can’t be high.

Why do they even have a D200? Same mileage, same engine, same Co2....

I think the
D200 is a
de-tuned
D240.
T
hey probably
need to update the specs on the page but if you look the 0-60 and max speed are different.

yeah I figure its a detune, but the question is why offer it? at least according to the page the is no MPG or emissions benefit . I guess if its cheaper just buy it and tune it.

Yeah it’s kind of strange, wiki doesn’t show any real difference either:
